Biox-PicoDNA

The Biox-PicoDNA (Dy-1013) kit can be used to selectively detect double-stranded DNA in the presence of single-stranded DNA, RNA or protein up to 5 ng/ml concentration. This means three orders of magnitude higher sensitivity than the lower limit of the measuring range of conventional and microvolume spectrophotometers (e.g. NanoDrop). Spectrophotometric DNA concentration determination is at 260 nm without the use of co-reagent. However, the fluorimeter-based concentration determination requires the use of a fluorescent dye that can interact with the nucleic acid to be detected. Biox-PicoDNA fluorescent dye is able to bind only to double-stranded DNA molecules (so-called intercalating dye), which significantly increases the emitted fluorescence intensity in proportion to the amount of dsDNA present in the solution. Thanks to fluorescence-based detection, the concentration of the test sample can be determined with the help of an extreme accuracy using a fluorometer (Qubit, Quantus, QFX Fluorometer) or a microplate reader. Biox-PicoDNA (equivalent to PicoGreen dye) emission/excitation peaks: 502/532 nm.

Suggested use

PCR-based assay users, NGS (next generation sequencing) laboratories, quantification of genomic DNA, determination of microbial/ viral DNA, microarray samples, detection of double-stranded DNA in complex samples or to determine samples with low DNA content.
